Airgentic releases major update to site search

Site search has quietly become one of the most important digital experiences an organisation can offer.People often arrive at a website with a specific goal in mind. They may be looking for a service, policy, course, staff member, news item, form or answer. When search works well, it helps them find what they need quickly. When it does not, it can create frustration, increase support demand and make important content harder to access.

That is why we have released a major update to Airgentic’s site search, designed for organisations that need more control, more flexibility and a better experience for their users.

Airgentic has supported site search for some time, but this new version represents a significant step forward. It allows teams to create highly tailored search experiences directly from the Airgentic admin console, without needing a custom implementation for every use case.

Teams can now create rich faceted search experiences using metadata, URL structure, dates, numbers, categories, hierarchies and other structured information. They can also configure different search journeys for different content types, such as courses, people, news, policies or services.

This means each search experience can be designed around the way users actually look for information. A course search might need subject areas, study levels and delivery modes. A policy search might need categories, dates and departments. A service search might need location, eligibility or service type.

The update also gives teams more control over how users refine and navigate results. Organisations can add filters such as hierarchy navigation, ranges, checkboxes, multi-select filters and toggles, depending on what makes sense for each search experience.

In addition, teams can promote important results, curate key content and customise how results are displayed. This helps ensure that high-value or time-sensitive information is easier to find, while still maintaining a governed and consistent search experience.

Most importantly, Airgentic brings search and AI together in one experience.

Users can choose whether they want to browse traditional search results or ask the integrated AI agent for help. This gives people more flexibility and allows organisations to support a wider range of user needs from a single interface.

This is especially useful for large websites, including universities, councils and enterprise knowledge portals, where users often arrive with very different intents. In these environments, a simple keyword search box is rarely enough.

The goal of this update is simple: to give organisations the power to create high-quality, governed and deeply configurable search experiences with minimal effort.
